I've got two AIX San Clients running 7.5.0.4 talking to a 7.6.0.2 Master and a 2.6.0.2 5230. Our naming convention is short, lower-case names but somehow (probably a previous bad entry in bp.conf) the San Client is registering with a mixed case FQDN.
Since the short name doesn't precisely match the mixed case FQDN (they're both the same machine to DNS but not to case sensitive NetBackup), backups don't use the San Client. I do have one other box where everything matches up and the San Client does connect on that box (but it then throws "buffer out of sequence" errors, another issue I have to fix...)
On the main system I'm tshooting I've checked the bp.conf and it has the short name in it - now. I didn't keep a log of what it used to be.
I've deleted the entry under San Clients in the GUI and bounced the services on the client and it re-registers with the mixed case long name.
Is there a simple way to change over or do I have to go through all the hoops to get root access so that I can run cfgmrg again?
Thanks,
